Yesterday (Wed 26.03.2025) we had our first quarterly Wed Member Mixer (General meeting for our members and other Stakeholders).

One of our Guest Speakers was from the Wholesale and Retail SETA (WR SETA) and we asked the following question:

Learnerships: The question about age being up to 35 only.

Response: The BEE scorecard and Tax Rebates play a huge role in the age of participants stipulated in the adverts for Learnerships.

Sponsors/Employers specify age groups where they can gain the highest BEE scorecard and Tax Rebates from.

Employers are automatically rejecting disabled people over 35 years of age. It's not SETA policy but an Employer decision.
