Green tree pythons (Morelia viridis) are a species of non-venomous snake found in the tropical rainforests of New Guinea, Indonesia, and northeastern Australia. Some of their key characteristics include:

Coloration: As their name suggests, green tree pythons have a vibrant green coloration that helps them camouflage in the forest canopy. Their color can vary from bright lime green to deep forest green.
Size: Adult green tree pythons typically range from 5-6 feet (1.5-1.8 m) in length. They have slender, muscular bodies and prehensile tails that allow them to easily climb and navigate through the trees.
Behavior: Green tree pythons are arboreal, spending the majority of their time coiled up in the branches of trees. They are ambush predators, waiting motionlessly to strike at passing prey like small mammals, birds, and lizards.
Reproduction: Green tree pythons are oviparous, meaning they lay eggs. Females will incubate a clutch of 10-30 eggs for about 2-3 months until the hatchlings emerge. The baby snakes start out a bright yellow or orange color and gradually transition to green as they mature.
Conservation: Green tree pythons are classified as Least Concern by the IUCN, but they are protected in parts of their native range due to over-collection for the exotic pet trade. Habitat loss is also a threat to wild populations.
