WORK with sight words for a small chunk of time each day. You want them reading, building, writing, using sight words in engaging activities.
Use a dictionary to get the meaning of each word. This is extremely important as the sight words are abstract words – visual learners will struggle to remember them if they are not able to visualise an image (meaning) of the word. Use as many of the senses as possible, for example, build the word with clay or with pipe cleaners (kinaesthetic), say the word out loud (hearing), touch and spell the word.
