What an incredible day celebrating East Mecklenburg’s 75th Anniversary! Last Friday, April 17th, the energy on Monroe Road was unmatched as we honored “The World’s School.”

From school tours and food trucks to cheering on our Eagles at the games, it was a beautiful reminder of the community that makes East Meck so special.

East Meck is an amazing partner of GenOne! We loved connecting with alumni, partners, and our amazing first-generation Scholars who are carrying the Eagle legacy into the future.

Thank you, East Meck, for 75 years of excellence. Here’s to the next 75!

We are just two weeks away from An Evening with GenOne, an event to celebrate one another and the achievements of Scholars.

An Evening with GenOne is your chance to support local first-generation Scholars on their path to college. Though our Scholars are the first in their families to blaze a trail to college, let’s show them they don’t have to do it alone.

The path to college needs a village. You can be a part of that village just by showing up on April 30.

Event guests will hear several powerful Scholars stories, connect with other top supporters from the GenOne community, enjoy delicious food from Porcupine Provisions, and experience one of Charlotte’s newest event spaces, The Drum Dilworth.

We’re excited to build on the momentum from last year’s event, where we raised over $50,000 in support of our Scholars.

A very special thanks to our sponsor for helping make this evening extra special!

Join us for a night full of celebration and community with our first-generation Scholars and the GenOne community!

This National Volunteer Month, we are reflecting on the incredible impact of our GenOne volunteers.

Our volunteers are the fuel that allows us to drive meaningful change for our Scholars. Volunteers continue to support GenOne in many ways including but not limited to:
Mentoring: Opening doors to new career possibilities.
Coaching: Refining essential networking skills.
Support: Assembling care packages for our College Scholars.
Advocacy: Spreading our mission throughout the community.

We are incredibly grateful for the expertise and passion our past and present volunteers bring to GenOne’s mission of helping talented first-generation Scholars get to and through college.

Thank you for your tireless support and for believing in the power of education!

Join us for Friends of GenOne on March 26 at Belle Acres.

This casual gathering is a chance to connect with the GenOne community, hear updates on our work, and learn more about the impact we’re making alongside more than 310 Scholars this year. Guests will also hear from our Board Chair, a Scholar, and our Executive Director.

This event is an opportunity to celebrate supporters, welcome new friends, and bring more people into GenOne’s mission. And for those who want to stay connected beyond this event, we’d also love to see you at our annual fundraiser on April 30.

We’d love to have you with us, and please feel free to invite someone who would enjoy getting to know our work.

Please join us in celebrating Kyle Goodfellow, our director of Development and Communications on his first GenOne anniversary! Over the past year, Kyle’s dedication to GenOne has helped elevate our Scholars’ voices in powerful ways.

From meeting with donors and sharing the stories of our Scholars and GenOne, to thoughtful grant writing that allows our programs to grow and managing our social media account, Kyle is a very important part of strengthening GenOne.

We are very grateful for what Kyle does for the GenOne community and can’t wait for what’s ahead!
