Here’s how professional athletes develop laser-like focus and avoid choking👇

If you’re an athlete, you probably know these moments where you need your entire focus: for example, when attempting a free throw in basketball, when shooting a penalty kick, trying to throw a dart into the bull’s eye or during golf putting. You’re under a lot of pressure and perhaps feel a bit anxious too.

Sport psychologists point to an interesting strategy that shows great improvements in maintaining a steady focus and avoiding choking in the most stressful situations: The Quiet Eye.👁

For example, after training the Quiet Eye, basketball players’ free throw percentages have been found to have improved by an astonishing 23% after two seasons (Harle & Vickers, 2001).🏀

In our newest YouTube video, we’ll reveal what the Quiet Eye is and why it’s useful to train. (👉 Link in bio)

Have you ever falsely believed that your phone was vibrating when, in fact, it didn’t? There’s a name for it …

For most of us, the phone has become such a central part of our lives that there’s rarely a situation where we don’t have it with us.

Our co-founder Jonas shares:

“I feel like most of my constructed reality is happening on my phone: I only remember what I did on Tuesday when checking my calendar; recalling what I felt in a certain moment comes much easier when going through my pictures and these moments are much more vivid in my memory than the ones I do not have pictures from. And if I actually want to escape reality, then I’ll just open TikTok.”

The phone has become a part of us. And that’s why an interesting phenomenon is increasingly emerging: Our brain misinterprets sensory stimuli like a muscle twitch, for example, as a phone vibration. This is called “phantom vibration”.

Not to be overdramatic, but if you sometimes think your phone was vibrating when it didn’t, this may be a sign of stress and even a harbinger of burnout (Chen et al., 2014).

Here’s all you need to know about phantom vibrations and how to break your phone addiction in our brand-new video. (👉 Link in our bio)
