The main reason: hand-drawn animation was extremely expensive
Before computers, every second of animation required dozens of individual drawings. A 90-minute animated film could require tens of thousands of drawings. Reusing an existing sequence meant that artists could start from a proven motion rather than creating it entirely from scratch. Disney and many other studios used this technique to reduce production costs and production time.
Why do the movements match so perfectly?
