Every spark has the potential to prevent an accident—or cause one. Before starting any welding or cutting job, ensure the work area is inspected, hazards are controlled, proper PPE is worn, and a fire watch is in place.

SPORTS INJURY COMPENSATION SCHEME AND SAFETY AWARENESS AT NU'UAUSALA COLLEGE
Friday, 3rd July 2026

As the kids hit the field and represent their schools, remember to give it their all - but always protect their future. ACC Awareness Taskforce presented its "Play Hard, Play Smart" Programme to Nuuausala College students and staff.

"We are here to help you understand why safety matters in sports, your role in staying safe, and how you are protected" the aim of this awareness stressed by the presenter, Leota Fagalima Tuatagaloa.

The students and teachers were informed on:
🛡️ 1. Why Safety Matters & Your Role:
• Your Body, Your Future: Safe play ensures you stay in the game and avoid long-term injuries.
• Play Smart: Follow the rules, respect your opponents, and listen to your coaches.
• Speak Up: If you feel pain or get hurt, report it to your teacher or coach immediately. Do not hide injuries.
👟2. Prevention Methods:
• Warm Up & Cool Down: Always stretch before and after every training session or game.
• Wear the Right Gear: Use proper footwear, mouthguards, and protective equipment.
• Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before, during, and after physical activity.
💼 3. ACC Scheme Coverage & Claims:
• Full Protection: If you are injured during school sports, official tournaments or at your community events, the ACC Sports Injury Compensation Scheme is here to support your recovery.
• Fast Support: If an injury happens, ensure it is reported to the ACC office right away.
• 3-Day Turnaround: Once all your official documents and medical forms are properly completed, your injury claim can be settled in as little as 3 days.
At the end, Leota reminded the students and staff, "Play with passion, protect your teammates, and keep Nu'uausala College safe and successful!"
The Vice Principal conveyed their sincere appreciation for the presentation and the support it will provide under the scheme. Like Avele College, Nuuausala College has already registered and paid Sports Levy of $1.00 for every student.
