Architecture's own immaculate conception How a 1970s skyscraper became a structural superhero for Sydney

The hilariously unfinished National Monument of Scotland 🏛️ It was intended to be a copy of the Parthenon in Athens, serving as a memorial to Scots who had died in the Napoleonic Wars of 1803-1815. The foundation stone was laid in 1822, but with only half the money needed to complete the project raised, they only got the initial pillar built 😅 Despite a few proposals to finish it, the structure remains on Calton Hill beautifully incomplete, and serves as a superb frame during epic sunrises such as this 🌄
