If you've been waiting for the summer storms, you won't have to wait much longer. We are tracking a surge in monsoon moisture heading into northern Arizona over the next few days. Friday and Saturday (July 10-11) will start off with quiet conditions, as minimal monsoon moisture means we'll only see isolated showers and thunderstorms mostly confined to the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains. However, the surge officially begins on Sunday (July 12) as moisture levels start climbing into "low-grade" monsoon conditions, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms along and south of the Mogollon Rim. By Monday and beyond (July 13+), active monsoon conditions fully arrive as deep moisture settles over the region, leading to widespread, scattered shower and thunderstorm activity across northern Arizona. Keep an eye on the sky and stay weather-aware as we head into early next week!

Shower and thunderstorm chances have been pushed eastward for the next few days, although the White Mountains may still have a chance. This allows the hot temperatures to be the main story. Rain chances return over the weekend, Monsoon 2026 will be in full swing by Sunday or Monday.

Believe it or not, there were some showers and thunderstorms around yesterday and there will be more today. The best chance over the next few days will be across southern Navajo and Apache counties, maybe a bit farther west each day. Then, a bit drier to end the week. But, late in the weekend and early next week, dare we say it? MONSOON!!!

Temperatures will warm significantly this week, likely to the warmest readings all year. There is a 10-20% chance of an isolated thunderstorm over the highest terrain the first half of the week before the focus for thunderstorms moves towards eastern Arizona for the second half of the week. For those headed to the Grand Canyon, an Extreme Heat Watch is in effect from Tuesday morning until Saturday evening for elevations below 4,000 feet.

God bless these United States of America!

God bless this community!

Today PVFD went to our Community Center where the local veterans group and many generous members put on one heck of a potluck.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication!

Afterwards the kids got out of the heat with a little assistance from several of our firefighters. There's always time for mud and Otter Pops!

We love this place we call home!

Stay safe!
