Semi-permanent” tattoos?! 😱

Nope. Not a thing. And neither is “semi-permanent” makeup. Permanent makeup is a tattoo. No matter the technique, method, or marketing spin—if ink is implanted into the skin, it’s a tattoo. Always has been, always will be.

Some try to reinvent the wheel, but the fact remains: Tattoos are permanent. For ink to last beyond a few weeks, it must be placed at the correct depth in the skin. This applies to microblading, powder brows, eyeliner, lip blush, scar camouflage, and body tattoos. 💋

The term semi-permanent was created as a clever marketing tactic in the PMU industry, often without proper explanation. In beauty, we associate “semi-permanent” (like hair dye) with something that fully fades away—but that’s not how permanent makeup works. This misconception leads to confusion, unrealistic expectations, and disappointed clients down the road.

Permanent makeup is a tattoo. While it’s designed to fade over time, allowing for adjustments in color, shape, or style, it will never fully disappear. That’s why choosing the right artist is crucial. ✨
