Hello. I wanted to let you know Cafe Reyes will be closed July 4 th.
As our nation marks its 250th anniversary, I reflect not only on the history of the United States, but on the many journeys, struggles, and hopes that have shaped the people who call this country home.

I am proud to be from Puerto Rico, a place rich in culture, resilience, family, and tradition. My story is also one of recovery, a journey that has taught me the power of perseverance, community, forgiveness, and the opportunity to begin again.

Recovery has shown me that freedom is not only something written in history books; it is something we experience when we reclaim our lives, rebuild relationships, and find purpose. Every person deserves the chance to heal, contribute, and be seen for who they are and who they can become.

As we celebrate 250 years, I honor the generations before us who fought for a better future and recognize that our nation continues to grow through the voices and experiences of people from every background, including those of us from Puerto Rico.

My hope for the next 250 years is a country where compassion is stronger than judgment, where recovery is embraced as a journey of courage, and where every person has the opportunity to live with dignity, hope, and belonging.

Thank you
Wilmer Rivera.
We will be back open July 5 th and I will be ready to serve you. Come join us and have a great holiday

My name is Edgardo Rentas.

I arrived at Café Reyes in 2016 as a participant in the HRH program. I started from the very bottom: washing dishes. Little by little, I learned to make coffee, cook, and serve customers; through hard work and dedication, I eventually became the restaurant manager.

But the most important thing wasn't the position I achieved, but the person I became.

Café Reyes was the place where I learned to live a different kind of life. There, I learned discipline, responsibility, respect, honesty, and the true meaning of love and understanding. It taught me to control my addiction, manage my anger, and relate to others in a healthy way. It was the place where I stopped being defined by my addiction and began to become the man I am today.

Today, I have the privilege of serving as the assistant to the HRH director, and much of that growth began at Café Reyes.

This isn't just a restaurant. It is a unique concept that transforms lives. It is a place where people get a real chance to rebuild themselves while working, learning, and regaining their dignity.

Today, I celebrate ten years in recovery, and I can say with all my heart that Café Reyes played a fundamental role in that journey. I will always be deeply grateful for everything they did for me.

I also want to thank everyone who is part of the team today. You are the ones who make it possible for this project to keep changing lives. I love you all very much and will always hold you close to my heart.

I invite the entire community to visit Café Reyes, enjoy the delicious food, and support this mission. Every visit helps give more people the chance to change their lives, just as I was able to change mine.

Thank you, Café Reyes, for believing in me when I needed it most. Thank you for teaching me to be an honest, responsible man full of hope.

I will always be grateful.

Warmly,

Edgardo Rentas

Edgardo Rentas
