Everytown Advocacy and Digital Campaign Workers Vote to Unionize with the IBEW



Boston, MA – (NLRB Region 1) Wednesday, May 13, 2026 - Workers in the Advocacy Campaigns and Digital Campaigns departments at Everytown for Gun Safety have voted to form a union with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2325 in an election conducted today by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).



The newly organized bargaining unit includes employees who power Everytown’s nationwide advocacy and digital campaigns—developing strategy, mobilizing communities, executing field operations, and running high-impact digital programs that support the organization’s mission. These workers, many of whom operate remotely across the country and engage in fast-paced, campaign-driven work, will now have the opportunity to collectively bargain over their wages, benefits, and working conditions.



Today’s vote marks a significant step for workers in the growing nonprofit advocacy and digital organizing space, where employees are increasingly seeking a stronger voice in workplace decisions, greater transparency, and legally enforceable protections.



With the results now certified, the IBEW looks forward to engaging in good-faith negotiations with Everytown leadership toward a first collective bargaining agreement.



“This victory reflects the workers’ clear desire for a voice on the job and a seat at the table,” said IBEW Regional Organizing Coordinator, Steve Smith. “We are committed to working collaboratively with Everytown leadership to reach an agreement that supports employees, strengthens the workplace, and ensures long-term success for the organization’s mission.” In addition, Smith added that “These workers have demonstrated their commitment not only to each other, but to the mission they serve every day. The IBEW is proud to stand with them, and we look forward to productive negotiations with Everytown that deliver real improvements, mutual respect, and a stronger foundation for the future.”



Workers organizing with the IBEW cited a shared interest in securing greater stability, transparency, and input into key decisions affecting their work—including issues such as workload, compensation structures, policies, and workplace protections. Organizing efforts emphasized building a democratic process where employees can collectively shape their future through bargaining.



The unionization also reflects broader trends across the nonprofit sector, where staff at major advocacy organizations have unionized to strengthen workplace standards while continuing to advance mission-driven work.



The IBEW emphasized that the process ahead will focus on good-faith dialogue and mutual respect.

“We firmly believe that a strong union and a strong organization go hand in hand,” added Jamie Gniadek, Business manager of IBEW Local 2325. “By working together, we can create a contract that provides fairness, stability, and a meaningful voice for employees—while supporting Everytown’s important work.”



Workers from the Everytown Voluntary Organizing Committee also released a statement noting that “Today’s vote is about having a real voice in the decisions that affect our work and our lives. We care deeply about this mission, and forming a union gives us a way to build a stronger, more transparent, and more sustainable workplace together.”



The IBEW anticipates that negotiations with Everytown are expected to begin in the coming weeks.

• Paisley Hathaway, daughter of Michael Hathaway, has been awarded the Stephen Buckman Memorial Scholarship
• Nicholas Jalbert, son of James Jalbert, has been awarded the Mark Booden Scholarship
• Cody LeBlanc, son of Maureen LeBlanc, has been awarded the Robert Domiano Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Congratulations to all of this year’s recipients. We wish you the very best of luck in your first year of college. Winners can expect to receive their scholarship checks following the May Executive Board meeting on May 26th.

IBEW 2325 and the Executive Board would also like to welcome our new At-Large Executive Board member, Sherrie Virgo. Sherrie comes from Legrand and will represent over 200 members from the manufacturing facility. She is also the first member outside of Verizon to be elected to our Executive Committee.
