Have you noticed that a whole LOT of captions start with questions?
Yeah? Why is that?
It's because questions dig their HOOKS deep down into your audience!
When you read a question — like say, what did you have for breakfast? — your mind IMMEDIATELY tries to come up with an answer.
And if it can't? You're going to be more likely to keep on reading to find one.
Adding open-ended questions to your writing is a SUPER EASY way to keep your reader engaged.
BUT! BE CAREFUL.
You should NEVER ask your audience a question you can't answer. If YOU can't answer it, your reader sure as hell isn't going to be able to either.

A Nominalization is a noun that you create from an adjective or verb - They typically end in -tion, -ance, or -ness.
Like:
🔹 Friendliness
🔹 Appearance
🔹 Discussion
🔹 Carelessness
And they almost ALWAYS add un-needed wordiness to your writing.
So, what happens when you give them the ax?
Take this sentence:
“The children worked to find a resolution to their playground dispute.”
Can you spot the nominalization? It’s the word resolution.
If we cut out ‘resolution’ and replace it with its verb counterpart, the sentence turns into:
“The children resolved their playground dispute.”
See how we got a shorter and easier to read sentence?
When editing, double-check if you’ve used any nominalizations. If you have, try to CUT THEM OUT.
Sometimes, nominalizations can be helpful. But typically? It’s better to kiss them goodbye.
