The plan was that we would have several rent free months this winter to close up while our new landlord built a hotel upstairs. Meanwhile, Suzanne had an opportunity to take a post out of town for Jan. & Feb 2025. Since we were to be closed, she made the commitment.

Now, our landlord has backed out and the construction project is off.

Another thing that is off is our sales. A lackluster June has us thinking we won’t be able to afford to close while we are gone. Therefore, the time has come.

We are seeking a successor to take over our lease. The terms are excellent, and include free heat and more than seven years remaining at below market rates.

While we remain open, we will be celebrating all the goodness of our local food systems, Suzanne’s excellent cooking and each other’s friendly dinner conversation. Naturally, while we are all enjoying ourselves, please understand, we don’t intend to ruin our good fun with talk of “business” at the bar. I am a bartender, host and server keeping the mood light while we are open and the “business owner” only when we are closed.

How long we remain open is unknown. So, we will appreciate every moment and hope you will join us soon.
