Nothing says summer like firing up the grill - but a few simple precautions can make all the difference.

Before your next BBQ, remember these grill safety basics:

- Keep your grill at least 10 feet from your home
- Never leave a lit grill unattended
- Keep kids and pets at least 3 feet away

Grill fires can start fast, especially on decks, patios, or near siding. A little extra space and attention can help keep your cookout fun, safe, and stress-free.

Today we would like to honor an inspiring young lady who saw a need in her community and made it happen. Amelia noticed that there were not any babysitters trainings happening in her community her & her friend Ayla went before the board of the Awesome Ipswich 500 to get a grant to bring the Red Cross babysitters training to her community and she won!! We are so proud of her!

“My mom and I were brainstorming ideas to pitch to the Awesome Ipswich group when I remembered taking the Wicked Safety Babysitting Course. I thought it would be great if more kids in Ipswich had the same opportunity. I had to travel all the way to Woburn to take the class and many of my friends wanted to do it too but couldn't because of the distance or cost.
After I took the course, I was lucky enough to do some babysitting over the summer. The class helped me feel more confident and prepared. I was proud and excited to earn my own money doing something I enjoyed.
Presenting at Kids Pitch Night was a little scary, so I asked my friend Ayla to do it with me. We thought bringing the babysitting course to Ipswich would be a win-win because it would help kids learn new skills and feel more confident about babysitting and help parents find babysitters they can trust so they can go out and have fun.
We were so excited when we won because it meant we could bring the babysitting course to Ipswich and share this opportunity with other kids. - Amelia”
