We are remembering fondly one of our beloved KFD members Robert “Bob” Kane. Bob became a member on February 1st, 1962. A second generation member following his father Art. Bob stood shoulder to shoulder with other icons of this community, literally, as the photo from February 3rd, 1962 shows when he was a member for 2 days. Another photo shows Bob being congratulated and thanked for his service as Captain of the Rescue Company by past chief George Bixby. Bob will be remembered for being a very active firefighter and rescue officer. He would be a calming voice during rescue calls and fire calls, a leader. And he also knew how to have fun and how to share and enjoy a good story. He along with his wife Mary, enjoyed many occasions at the fire station. Those stories, many of us will remember, with a smile. He was proud of being a member of the KFD and you could see it in his smile, as in his fire department personnel photo from 2024.
