A letter from the Owner:

Hello Everyone, T.Jay here.

I'd like to start out by thanking each and every guest who has made their way through our door over the past 5 years. I cannot convey enough, how much your enthusiastic patronage has meant to me and the wonderful staff members at TJYS. Secondly, and equally important, I'd like to thank the unique, creative; and generous individuals who leant there talents to the salon and were a major part of the salon's successes. I've decided that as this month comes to a close, so shall the salon. This shop has been one of the most gratifying joys of my life. Many of you have asked during your appointments " T.Jay, are you sad to be closing"?...."Is it bitter sweet"?....."Any regrets"?
This journey has been a labor of love. I wish everyone could experience in their life a dream coming to fruition. Every day I was here, working behind the chair; I knew that this is exactly where I was supposed to be. That is why, I never missed a single day while the owner of this salon. Whether I was nursing a thrown out back, or trying to recover from food poisoning; I was here. Being a labor of love, more often than not; keeps me here 6 days a week..... 7 if there's a wedding on a Sunday.
Admittedly, it's the Millennials that have taught me the most over the years. Something about work / life balance? Honestly, a concept I never even pondered. Well, it's time for me to pursue this work / life balance concept. Starting August 1st I have accepted a position at Lesalon Zizou. I'm elated to be joining colleagues and friends I started my career with 13 years ago. Also, I'm looking forward to a 4 day work week, and more time w/ my partner and family. It has been a privilege and honor to traverse this journey with all of our clients and friends, it was you that made my little shop over looking Central Park such a unique experience; and I'm so grateful we went on this journey together. I look forward to greeting you at Lesalon Zizou. I wish nothing but the best to the stylist and assistants of TJYS who are advancing their careers and starting families. Is this the end for TJYS? Currently, I've got a few projects in the works that my entrepreneurial spirit will not let rest. So, for now I'm keeping an open mind as to if and how the TJYS brand shall evolve.
In closing, to answer your questions, No regrets, I'm elated to finally have some balance in my life and pursue other interests; all sweet - no bitter.

Kay is our new Master stylist and Colorist here in the salon. A native to Los Angeles, Kay brings over 20 years experience to our team. Kay believes creating styles to meet her clients individual needs is the most important part of building long lasting relationships with her guests. A master of her craft, Kay is current with the latest techniques and hair trends that appear on the fashion scene. Bringing fashion and art to her guest through hairdressing is her passion. Kay truly loves the art of hairstyling and takes great pride in her work.

Makeover Monday is back with our in house model, the gorgeous Olivia! We enlivened Olivia's color with warm tones last fall, pairing it with a long layered cut and keratin treatment. New Year and new look. We added depth to her color and chin length layers cascading all the way down her length. This is what happens when your not scared of change.
