Monday morning, by the time I repositioned back to the Beach at Hanging Rock State Park, the fog was mostly gone and there was still an hour and forty minutes before sunrise. The foreground was dark and required a 30 second exposure to show this much detail. That long exposure was never expected to hold the Moon’s details as it was setting but the stars showed up nicely. The Park is always beautiful and I’m grateful to those who appreciate my photographic efforts. 4:27 AM, 06.29.26

My plan was to shoot the Moon setting in the low spot of the ridge across Hanging Rock State Park’s Lake from it’s Beach between 4:15 - 4:45 AM. Thankfully, I arrived 30 minutes early while the Moon was still higher and further left with this layer of fog viewed from the road next to the dam while I was driving in. I took a quick look at the beach then decided I had time to walk back past the boat house where I had previously shot this same angle during the daytime. The Moon lit fog playing on the water was beautiful so I bracketed my exposures, one after the other. Upon returning home, I narrowed 44 images down to my favorite 3 then selected the one captured at 4:12 AM to edit and shared it with you yesterday. I try not to post repetitive images so I thought I was finished until I put the same finishing touches on the other two shots and knew I had to share them as well. I captured THIS image 9 minutes earlier while the Fog was more present creating a rainbow around the Moon which also reflected on the water. 4:03 AM, 06.29.26
