Our 2025 Fall wine release is open. This is one of our favorite trios of wine we’ve ever put together. All three single vineyard wines come from the excellent 2023 vintage and show the purity and energy that the vintage is known for. Included are the 96 point Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay, Ghost Block Cabernet and the return of the Broken Leg Vineyard Syrah. We can’t wait for you taste them.

Nestled in the heart of the prestigious Oakville American Viticultural Area (AVA) within Napa Valley, Holmes Ranch is a hidden jewel that has consistently produced some of the most sought-after wines in the region.

This historic vineyard is steeped in tradition and is known for its distinctive terroir, which is characterized by the well-drained soils and the unique microclimate of the Oakville AVA.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Holmes Ranch is a deep garnet-purple in color, it tumbles out with compelling notes of black and red currant jelly, wild blueberries, and black raspberries, plus suggestions of rose oil and cedar chest.

Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with crunchy black and red berry layers, framed by ripe, finely-grained tannins and lovely tension, finishing with bags of energy.

The relationship between acidity and alkalinity in wines, influenced by limestone soil, is crucial in shaping the overall character and quality of the final product.

Limestone, rich in calcium carbonate, tends to buffer soil pH, maintaining a delicate balance between acidity and alkalinity.

In vineyards with limestone soils, the pH levels of the soil are often moderated, creating a hospitable environment for grapevines to thrive.

This balance is reflected in the grapes themselves, with the vines able to maintain optimal acidity levels as they ripen.

As a result, wines produced from grapes grown in limestone-rich soils often exhibit a harmonious interplay between acidity and alkalinity, contributing to their complexity, structure, and age-worthiness.
