Here’s another beautiful custom jewelry piece designed and handmade by Mark Shimizu from start to finish.

This project began with sourcing a stunning Colombian Emerald, followed by designing the piece, casting the individual components, hand-setting the stones, and carefully polishing and assembling everything into the finished design.

With over 50 years of jewelry-making experience, Mark is one of the few jewelers in Sonoma County who completes the entire jewelry-making process himself — including CAD design, wax carving/3D modeling, metal casting, stone setting, polishing, and finishing.

Mark has been working hard getting caught up on a backlog of custom projects, and we’re excited to showcase one of his recent finished pieces.
This customer brought in their own gemstones, including this gorgeous Spessartite Garnet, and worked one-on-one with Mark to create a truly custom design. After collaborating closely on the vision, Mark created a 3D model for approval, then moved into production — casting the piece in yellow gold, hand-setting the stones, and polishing/finishing everything by hand right here in our Windsor jewelry store.

There’s something special about creating a piece that is completely unique and designed specifically for one person.
