📢 Urgent Call to Action: Spread the word about IMSE’s new awareness piece covering the harrowing reality of the literacy crisis gripping the United States. With alarming statistics revealing the failure of a significant percentage of students to meet proficiency standards, disproportionately affecting our minority communities, the gravity of the situation cannot be overstated. We urge government officials, school districts, teachers, and families to learn and share about the critical differences between meaning-based and code-based reading approaches being implemented in U.S. schools. 
The history of the reading wars is fraught with complexities, including business incentives, public disconnect from scientific findings, and institutional barriers. However, amidst this darkness, there’s a glimmer of hope as legislative changes demand adequate training and curriculum grounded in the Science of Reading.
