Thinking (Go to Church)

Wrapped in blankets
on the front porch swing
My snuggle buggle leans in with a smile
Birds are waking
all around they sing
She doesn't say a word for a while
And then "Daddy, I've been thinking..."

Why do we need to go to church
when God has given
all creation to show to us
just how much He cares and loves
each one of us?

So we open
Chapter Two and read
How man was never meant to be alone.
And we study
how we got deceived and
found out things we might have never known.
Oh, the consequences God gave!

Man will toil with the
sweat of his brow and labor
all his days to eat from the ground.
We are dust, and to dust
we shall soon return.

"But Daddy, how does that
say to go to church when God sent us
out of the Garden as punishment,
and then blocked the pathway to the Tree of Life?"

Oh my daughter, I hear honesty
and your child like faith is refreshing.
Jesus taught us to give and receive, and
from the Father's heart comes all blessing.

Yes, we are His hands and feet.
On each other we can lean.
And he asks us all to sing,
Even when life's challenging.

That's why we need to go to church

all these people to show to us
