That’s a wrap on year #3 which was an incredible year of learning and growing. Our scholars had the opportunity to learn from and interact with more than 150 Industry Partner professionals who helped bring real-world learning to life.

From projects focused on tool safety and habitat design to Passion Projects and Falcon Motorsports presentations, our scholars continued to grow through hands-on experiences, collaboration, and creativity.

Even as summer begins, exciting opportunities for the continued growth of the WCHS P-TECH program are already in motion, with meetings, scholar internships, and future planning already filling the calendar.

We are incredibly thankful for our scholars, families, and Industry Partners who continue to invest their time, support, and expertise into all we do.

We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer!

đŸ“¸These pictures are missing some scholars, but we were able to get as many of our crew as we could together today for a few fun ones!

Today we hosted our Presentation of Learning Expo, where we had the opportunity to welcome Industry Partners, friends, and family into the P-TECH Innovation Center to see learning in action.

From Falcon Motorsports showcasing the work scholars have been doing throughout the year to Passion Projects (centered around topics chosen by the scholars themselves), attendees were able to experience the wide variety of interests, creativity, and learning taking place inside WCHS P-TECH.

From horses to snakes, to the neuroscience behind hearing an acoustic guitar being played, the emotional impact of photography, dinosaurs, and so much more our scholars confidently shared what they had learned.

Thank you to everyone who attended, asked questions, encouraged our scholars, and supported authentic learning experiences throughout the year. Days like today are a great reminder that learning becomes even more meaningful when scholars have opportunities to explore topics they are passionate about and share that learning with others.

Congratulations to our Chapter 3 P-TECH scholar, Cassidy Burk, on the official opening of The Start with Art Feeding Thinkers Community Garden! Cassidy has taken a huge leadership role in the development of this program through her Agriculture classes. The goal of the garden is to provide fresh produce to students within our school district.

BIG THANK YOU to Old National Bank’s Moussa Ibrahmi for visiting our P-TECH scholars!
Moussa, like many of our Industry Partners, has worked with our Chapter 3 Junior scholars for the past three years. Moussa has been a part of helping our kids learn great information about finances, banking and life.

Moussa’s P3 Visit (P-TECH Partner POV) was a great day to connect again for our Chapter 3s (pictured here) and to have the opportunity to encourage our Chapter 1s and 2s to keep dreaming big.

Thanks again to ONB and Moussa for your involvement in P-TECH!

Thank you to all our Industry Partners for investing your time, expertise, and energy into WCHS P-TECH!

As we wrap up another incredible year, we would love your feedback on the survey we recently emailed out to all of our amazing Industry Partners. These insights helps us continue to create meaningful real-world opportunities for our scholars.

We truly could not do this work without you!

*If you did not receive the survey or have any questions about the survey, please feel free to email Kristen Weigand ([email protected]).

Today, our scholars put their knowledge into action by creating concrete mixtures using the materials and guidance provided by our incredible Industry Partners at US Aggregates and Pepcon & Poeppelman Materials.

Through hands-on testing, scholars learned:
-How removing air/oxygen helps concrete settle properly
-How to calculate ratios and measurements to create the desired mix
-The importance of accurate calculations
-That trial and error is often part of finding the best solution

This project continues to show our scholars that real-world problem solving takes both knowledge and persistence. Looking forward to seeing the results of our initial tests and how scholars make changes for the retesting.

Big thanks to US Aggregates and Pepcon for helping make this learning experience possible!

Our scholars had a valuable day learning in the field during today’s work site visit to Pepcon & Poeppelman Materials in Union City.

A big thank you to owner Ben Poeppelman for hosting our tour and taking time to answer thoughtful questions from our students. Our scholars came prepared and asked some great questions as they dug deeper into their current project.

The visit provided real-world insight as scholars work to develop the strongest concrete possible utilizing
aggregates from US Aggregates along with additional materials and expertise from the Pepcon team.

Hands-on learning becomes even more meaningful when Industry Partners help bring classroom projects to life!
(and special shoutout to Industry Parnter Aaron Anderson with Culy Contracting for connecting us with the Pepcon team!)

Thank you to Paul Faddis - Your Real Estate Professional for joining us today to speak with our three chapters for a P3 (P-TECH Partner POV) Visit.

Our scholars (from their perspective) learned to believe in their abilities and that they can achieve great things, the importance of hard work and helping others, and that can't is a word they should remove from their vocabulary.

Thanks, Paul, for spending part of your day with us!

We are incredibly lucky to have Industry Partners who support our program in so many different ways. Our WCHS P-TECH program is stronger because of the way they show up and get involved!

A huge thank you to ALL of our Industry Partners! We truly appreciate everything you do and the impact you make.
Our most recent collaboration was our Signing Night SWAG Bags full of awesome items for our incoming scholars. Thanks to the following Industry Partners for donating this year!

(We apparently had too many Industry Partners participate that we exceed the max number to add into a post, so please check out the comments to see all who were a part of our SWAG Bags this year)

A huge thank you to our Industry Partners for adding items to our amazing SWAG bags. The support of our community makes a lasting impact and helps our scholars feel valued from day one.

Congratulations to our newest P-TECH scholars! We are so excited to see all that’s ahead for you!

*Families of those who signed - Scholars did receive some additional photos in their school email as well. If they did not receive, just let Kristen Weigand know and she can resend.
