Sonia Ollin Tezcaquetzalli - Mexico City • Descendant of a Mixtec family from the Valley of Oaxaca - Over 21 years within the Mexica Tradition.

Sonia Ollin Tezcaquetzalli is a cultural educator and guardian of ancestral knowledge from the Mexica tradition. With more than two decades of experience, she studies and shares wisdom related to Mexica codices, the Nahuatl language, temazcal, pre Hispanic dance, and traditional herbal medicine—knowledge that has been passed to her through her lineage, particularly from her paternal grandmother.

What Sonia will share at Tribal Gathering?

Temazcal Ceremony inspired by Lakota Inipi >>

A community healing space for purification and emotional balance using the sacred elements of water and fire, known in the Mexica tradition as atlachinolli. This ceremony promotes harmony, reflection, and physical and emotional well being.
Pre Hispanic Mexica Dance Workshop (Aztec Dance) >>
A ritual practice of mindful movement that honors the natural elements and ancestral energies. Through collective dance, rhythm, and the sacred drum, participants explore cultural identity, community connection, and inner balance.

Basic Nahuatl Language Workshop >>

An introduction to the worldview of the Anahuac civilization through its language. Participants discover the meaning, symbolism, and philosophical depth within Nahuatl, exploring how language reflects the values and cosmology of the Mexica people.

Fundamentals and Reading of the Tonalamatl (Mexica Calendar Oracle) >>

A personalized reading based on one’s date of birth, revealing guiding energies, sacred guardians, and traditional spiritual names. This practice encourages introspection, cultural understanding, and clarity of life purpose through ancestral perspectives.

With more than two decades of experience, she studies and shares wisdom related to Mexica codices, the Nahuatl language, temazcal, pre Hispanic dance, and traditional herbal medicine - knowledge that has been passed to her through her lineage, particularly from her paternal grandmother.

She serves as the guide of the lunar dance circle Xochiyollotl Mixiuhqui Metztli, where she promotes the revival of ancestral ceremonial movement. As a primary school teacher, she integrates Indigenous pedagogies into contemporary education, including the use of nepohualtzitzin, an ancient Mesoamerican mathematical system, as a tool for teaching cultural identity, knowledge, and traditional science.

Sonia's work focuses on creating spaces for self reflection, cultural learning, and community well being. Her mission is to preserve, honor, and share the teachings of the Anahuac peoples in a respectful and educational way, helping others connect with the values, wisdom, and living traditions of her ancestors.

We excited to welcome her at next Tribal gathering 😊🙏

Hearts full, and how wouldn't they be! Honored to be accompanied by some of the most extraordinary people out there🙏

We are honored to welcome David Greendeer (Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin), Danielle Greendeer (Mashpee Wampanoag), and their children to Tribal Gathering 2026.

They will be sharing the sacred traditions of the Woodland people through drumming, singing, and storytelling, carrying the heartbeat of their ancestors into our circle.

In this photo, the family sits beside the big drum of the Winnebago Sons, wearing their beautiful traditional contemporary Woodland regalia - symbols of living culture, resilience, and connection.

🌿 We can’t wait to receive their songs, their stories, and their presence.
