15 steps with the .410! I love a good off the roost hunt!

Tuesday morning success with Grandpa! Calling gobbling birds through the timber will always be my favorite way to hunt these elusive birds!

Just when we thought opening day couldn’t have gotten any better… Tori called me yesterday afternoon while I was at work around 4:45. Said she had spotted a strutter in one of the fields we have permission to hunt on. I eagerly left work at 5 o’clock, rushed home to change and met up with my good ole pal Turner. All three of us slipped into the field about 5:30 and made the slow and steady stalk on this big double bearded bird! By 5:52 he was within 25 yards doing his thing!!! Tori let the trusty 20 GA do the rest!
