IAM Members Stand in Solidarity with National Nurses United at St. Joseph Hospital

WICHITA, KS. Today, members of IAM District 70 joined National Nurses United members on the picket line outside St. Joseph Hospital, standing shoulder to shoulder in support of nurses fighting for safer working conditions and better patient care.

Carrying signs calling for safe staffing levels, protection from workplace violence, and improved working conditions, nurses took their message directly to the community. IAM members walked alongside them to show that the fight for safe workplaces extends beyond any one profession. It is a fight shared by working people everywhere.

Safe staffing is more than a workplace issue. It is a patient safety issue. Nurses are advocating for the resources they need to provide the level of care every patient deserves while protecting the health and well being of the caregivers who are on the front lines every day.

The presence of IAM members on the line reinforced a core principle of the labor movement. When one group of workers stands up for fairness, safety, and dignity, unions stand together.

"Solidarity is more than a word. It is action," said Jesse Sutton from IAM District 70. "Today we are proud to stand with the nurses of National Nurses United as they continue their fight for safer staffing, safer workplaces, and quality patient care. Their fight is our fight."

The labor movement has long recognized that safer workplaces benefit workers, families, and the communities they serve. By supporting one another during times of struggle, unions strengthen the collective voice of working people and demonstrate that no one stands alone.

IAM District 70 remains committed to supporting fellow unions and will continue standing with workers who are fighting for safe jobs, fair treatment, and respect on the job. Together, workers are stronger, and together, solidarity makes a difference.
