Jennifer Ray, owner of The Monarch spoke at today's Wichita Independent Business Association Women's Luncheon - and the ladies of Lee Media Group were there in full support. 🤗

Monarch is one of our fave lunch (and happy hour) spots. We already loved it for the food, service, and atmosphere. Now we love supporting it even more after hearing Jen talk about the grit it takes to run a successful restaurant in Wichita for 14 years in a male-dominated industry.

Jen talked about her journey of starting the Monarch and transforming its previous space with a very small budget in just 60 days (anyone remember The Garage?👀). Even the landlord had a disapproving comment about it being successful...but that only drove her to succeed.

Her strategy? While Jen had a business plan, she was mostly winging it. She worked with "we can't do that" by moving backwards to find out what WOULD work to make her business successful.

She left us with some tips for new entrepreneurs:
✨ Trust your gut.
✨ Learn the art of speaking and talking face-to-face for impactful conversations.
✨ Be available to help other women grow their businesses.
