Sometimes, the staff of ICT Food Rescue have the privilege of stepping out and completing a rescue route ourselves.
As a two-person staff team, our days are spent bringing the organization's programs, partnerships, initiatives, and volunteers together to make food rescue possible across Wichita.
Every time we complete a rescue, we're reminded that at the heart of all of that work is something beautifully simple: good food being shared with our community.
This rescue of nutritious produce and hearty protein made its way from Blue Moon Caterers to Union Rescue Mission of Wichita.
Our volunteers create more than 120 of these moments every single week. What may feel like one simple rescue route is actually part of something much bigger.
These small moments add up to hundreds of thousands of pounds of food rescued each year and shared with our neighbors experiencing food insecurity throughout Wichita.

🥛 Good food deserves a second chance.🥛
Most days, Cocoa Dolce Lounge doesn't have surplus milk to donate. But when they do, they already have a simple plan in place to make sure it doesn't go to waste.
Recently, one of our volunteers picked up this surplus milk and delivered it directly to Union Rescue Mission of Wichita, where it could be put to good use instead of ending up in a landfill.
Food recovery isn't about having surplus every day. It's about choosing to have a plan for the days you do.
Thank you to the team at Cocoa Dolce Lounge, our incredible volunteer, and Union Rescue Mission of Wichita for working together to keep good food in our community. Those everyday choices make a real difference for our neighbors here in Wichita. ❤️

⚾️☀️ We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the heart of food recovery in Wichita.
Congratulations, Laurie! 🎉 We are so excited to see you recognized as one of this year’s Terry Brewster Award winners.
On July 28th, Laurie will be honored during the National Baseball Congress World Series, and we can’t wait to celebrate this special moment with her at the ballpark! ⚾️
Every single day, ICT Food Rescue volunteers quietly show up across our community. They give their time, use their own vehicles, and help make sure good food reaches our neighbors instead of going to waste.
Laurie represents the kindness, dedication, and willingness to serve that we see throughout our entire volunteer team each week.
We wish we could put every rescuer’s name on an award because each one of them plays a role in making this mission possible. Today, we are incredibly thankful to celebrate Laurie and this well-deserved recognition.
