We’re proud to spotlight Joshua P. Steward, a dedicated member of the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center Board of Directors and Chief Attorney with the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
For Josh, serving on the WASAC board is a natural extension of the work he’s devoted his career to. Since specializing in s*x crimes and domestic violence cases, he has seen firsthand the importance of ensuring survivors are met with compassion, advocacy, and unwavering support.
“What began as a job assignment grew into a passion for survivors and getting them justice. I wanted to be part of an organization that fought for the same things I do every day.”
Josh believes one of the most remarkable things about WASAC is the way every survivor is treated as a person—not a case number—with dignity, kindness, and hope.
He also reminds us that preventing s*xual violence is a responsibility we all share:
“When we ignore harmful comments or questionable behavior, we allow a culture of disrespect to grow. Every one of us has the responsibility to speak up and help stop s*xual violence before it happens.”
Thank you, Josh, for your leadership, your service, and your commitment to creating a safer community for survivors and for all. 💙

**Happy National Mac and Cheese Day!** No, this is not to start an argument over recipes, its to remind us all that self care is important.
Sometimes self-care looks like taking a walk. Sometimes it's calling a friend. Sometimes it's turning off your phone for a while. And sometimes... it's a warm bowl of mac and cheese.
Whether you're a survivor on your healing journey or an advocate supporting others every day, remember that taking care of yourself isn't selfish. Self care is essential. You deserve time to rest, recharge, and find comfort in the things that help you feel grounded.
A few simple self-care reminders:
💜Take a few deep breaths and step away when you need a moment.
💜Eat something comforting and stay hydrated.
💜Give yourself permission to rest without feeling guilty.
Healing isn't a race, and supporting others doesn't mean you have to put yourself last.
Now, if anyone happens to wants to recommend a lunch spot for mac and cheese - putting this post together has given us a craving.
