There are times you cannot tell if a smoke alarm is combination alarm to detect carbon monoxide as well. The only way to tell is to remove the alarm from its mount!

Smoke alarms are recommended to be replaced every 10 years while CO detectors should be replaced every 5-7 years.

The batteries is these bad boys should be replaced every 6 months to 1 year. If you have a home built prior to 2014, and have not replaced the smoke alarms or CO detectors, it’s time to put it on your honeyDew list!
