The Colic Doc

Link's story is a reminder that sometimes there can be more than one thing contributing to a baby's symptoms.

❓ Is your baby experiencing acid reflux... or milk reflux?

Many parents use the terms interchangeably, but they are not the same thing.

🍼 Milk reflux is the backward flow of milk from the stomach into the esophagus. It's commonly seen as spit-up and is very common in infants.
🔥 Acid reflux occurs when stomach acid moves backward into the esophagus and causes irritation. This is what older children and adults typically experience as heartburn or indigestion.

One of the biggest misconceptions we see is that every baby who spits up has acid reflux.
Spitting up alone doesn't necessarily mean stomach acid is causing the problem.
Understanding the difference is an important first step in figuring out what's really going on.
