Have you noticed tiny insects that seem to jump when disturbed? You may be seeing springtails.

Springtails are moisture-loving pests that are commonly found around foundations, mulch beds, overwatered lawns, and damp areas inside homes. While they don’t bite or damage your home, large numbers can quickly become a nuisance.

Why Are Springtails Around Your Home?

💧 Excess moisture around the foundation
🌿 Overwatered landscaping or thick mulch
🏡 Damp crawl spaces or basements
🌧️ Heavy rainfall or high humidity

How to Help Prevent Springtails

✅ Fix leaking faucets and irrigation issues
✅ Improve drainage around your home
✅ Avoid excessive mulch buildup against the foundation
✅ Keep gutters clean and directing water away from the house

If springtails are taking over your patio or making their way indoors, Elite Pest Control can help identify the source and provide effective treatments to reduce their population.

Did you know mice can squeeze through an opening as small as a dime?

As temperatures change and food sources become scarce outdoors, rodents often look for shelter inside homes, garages, sheds, and businesses. Once inside, they can contaminate food, damage insulation, and chew on electrical wiring.

Signs You May Have Rodents

✅ Droppings in cabinets, garages, or storage areas
✅ Scratching noises in walls or ceilings
✅ Chewed food packaging or pet food bags
✅ Gnaw marks on wood, wiring, or insulation

How to Help Prevent Rodents

• Seal gaps around doors, pipes, and utility lines
• Store pet food and bird seed in sealed containers
• Keep clutter to a minimum in storage areas
• Trim vegetation away from the foundation

Rodents reproduce quickly, so catching a problem early can save you time, money, and frustration.

Elite Pest Control provides professional rodent inspections and control services to help protect your home and family.

As warm temperatures settle in across Kansas, Dollar Spot becomes increasingly active, especially in lawns with low nitrogen fertility and extended periods of morning dew.

Symptoms to watch for:

* Small, straw-colored spots about the size of a silver dollar
* Bleached or tan grass blades
* Hourglass-shaped lesions with reddish-brown margins on individual blades
* Multiple spots merging into larger damaged areas if left untreated

Conditions that encourage Dollar Spot:

* Warm days with cool, humid nights
* Long periods of leaf wetness from dew or irrigation
* Under-fertilized turf
* Poor air circulation

Prevention methods:

* Maintain adequate nitrogen fertility based on soil and turf needs.
* Water deeply in the early morning instead of the evening.
* Reduce thatch buildup and improve airflow.
* Mow with sharp blades and avoid removing more than one-third of the grass height at a time.

Treatment recommendations:

* Correct fertility deficiencies and cultural practices first.
* If disease continues to spread, apply a fungicide labeled for Dollar Spot according to the product directions.
