The Miss Wichita Organization mourns the tragic loss of Kiah Duggins, a distinguished WSU and Harvard Law alumna who graced the Miss Kansas stage and made top 10 in the Miss Kansas competition. She continued to pour back into women and attended our Miss Wichita competition this past November.

Kiah’s journey was marked by exceptional achievements:

• Academic Excellence: A proud graduate of Wichita East High School’s IB program and Wichita State University, Kiah earned her law degree from Harvard Law School, where she served as President of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau.

• Civil Rights Advocacy: As an attorney with the Civil Rights Corps, Kiah dedicated her career to challenging unconstitutional policing and bail practices, making significant impacts in Tennessee, Texas, and Washington, D.C.

• Community Leadership: During her time at Wichita State, Kiah co-founded the Shocker Food Locker campus food pantry and the Inspire outreach initiative, embodying her commitment to service and inclusion.

Kiah’s unwavering dedication to justice and her compassionate spirit have left an indelible mark on our community. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

As we bid farewell to our dynamic Miss Wichita, Gabrielle Altenor, we can’t help but celebrate the extraordinary journey you’ve had and all that you’ve accomplished. Gabrielle, you rose to the occasion, defied the odds, and proved to everyone that the girls who hit the Miss Kansas stage can truly do it all.

Throughout your journey, you consistently challenged and stretched yourself, stepping outside your comfort zone in ways that inspired us all. You trusted the process, embraced new opportunities, and showed us what it means to push beyond limits. Your impressive achievements — double preliminary award winner, 2nd place in community service, and 3rd runner-up to Miss Kansas — are only a glimpse of your incredible dedication and resilience.

And let’s not forget that you did all of this while preparing for and ultimately passing the bar exam! As an attorney, you’ve shown that there is no challenge too great, no dream too big. You are the epitome of the American Dream, and as a daughter of immigrants, your story resonates with so many.

Gabrielle, thank you for allowing to be a part of your remarkable journey.
