Southern Four Cylinder Mod 4
I spoke at length today with Mark Moseley. The 3:00 announcement that caused so much trouble on the 29th was NOT directed at Mod 4's.
The track was receiving multiple calls from 305 Sprint guys who were rained out at other tracks, wanting to run at RRS. The "must be legal to compete" announcement was directed at 305 Sprints. It was a total misunderstanding that sure caused plenty of hard feelings. Enough about that it is water under the bridge!
The track still wants us to pull together, get on the same page and race our cars. To date Red River Speedway has done everything they said they would do:
-Track did open
-Track did run 7 classes opening night
-Track did pay full purse for all classes
-Track did come up with weight concession to equalize
non legal cars
-Track did put us on the schedule.
We might get another date to race in late September or October.
If we get to run again this year it will be under rules that are posted on the web site with weight penalty of 300 # for non legal cars.
Pretty simple: If your car does not fit the rules add 300 #
forward of the rear of the drivers seat.
Pretty simple: Stop complaining, gripping, accusing, name calling,
and general fowl behavior and we can get a class of
cars that's fun, affordable, and here for future
drivers to enjoy.
Approximately how much do your Mod4's weigh with driver but NO added weight?
Priority list per Mark Moseley:
1)Get cars to the track on the 29th
After the 29th
2)Form a Mod 4 Association
3)Elect 3 or 4 leaders
4)Hire a tech man
5)Work on rules for next year (he encourages to keep it cheap if
you want the class to succeed long term.)
