The City of Whittier, in partnership with the Whittier Area Chamber of Commerce and The Whittier Uptown Association, has awarded grants to 280 local business owners in need and assisted them with covering payroll, rent, utilities, and other expenses incurred during the pandemic.

To be eligible, businesses must operate out of a physical Whittier location and have a valid City business license, and grants are awarded based on gross annual revenue and according to business industry.

✅WHITTIER: Amazon.com is coming to a city near you!

A year after a brand new Orchard Supply Hardware store in Whittier closed, Amazon has announced plans to open one of its new Amazon Fresh grocery stores on that site.

The store includes Amazon Dash Carts equipped with digital panels allowing shoppers to sign in using a QR code from their Amazon app, Helbling wrote.

“The cart uses a combination of computer vision algorithms and sensor fusion to identify items put in the cart,” Helbling wrote. “It’s a smart cart that helps make your grocery shop quicker by enabling you to skip the checkout line.”

The stores also will feature a broad selection of produce, meat and seafood, baked goods and prepared foods made daily by the store’s culinary team, Helbling said.

📣📣📣Whittier is about to get something edge....Amazon Fresh Grocery Store to open in the former Orchard Supply Hardware Store. The fact that the Giant Amazon company is investing in our city is a good sign. This brings a great anchor to the shopping center and could potentially lure more retail outlets into the city...⬅️⬅️⬅️
