If you know of anyone that is currently on Medi-Cal, they have probably heard about the unfreezing of Medi-Cal status. What does that mean? They are starting to ask about your financials again for eligibility. There was a freeze during COVID and there are many many many people who will probably no longer be eligible. If you are on Medicare and are no longer eligible, it would be wise to review coverage to ensure that you will not be booted from your Medicare Advantage plan. Similarly, if you were a Medicare and Medi-Cal patient and no longer have Medi-Cal you should inquire about a Medicare Advantage plan as you could be paying up to 20% for many medical services. Lastly, if you are not in Medicare and have Medi-Cal and found that you are no longer eligible, you need to update your financials on Covered CA to ensure you get the best subsidy possible.
