A lot of people wonder where most of our income goes when it comes in as a donation or from trail rides and camps. Its a fair question, and one that we are happy to share an answer to!
Our 2 consistent monthly bills are the mortgage (~$1800/month) and equine insurance ($229/month). Our electric bill varies from month to month and is generally between $300-$500 on average (double or triple that in the winter).
Ashlee personally owns 2 of the main lesson/trail horses while Victoria privately owns 1. All 3 horses eat $328 of grain/hay per month. That equates to $984 a month just for feed. Victoria privately pays out of pocket for anything associated with her horse, Steele, while Ashlee pays for Star and Diego.
Victoria and Ashlee also pay out of pocket for their other horses: Inara, Alora, Waldo, Coco, Shorty, Stephen, Nova, Aspen and Fielder.
At Fortify, we do have a few boarded horses, 6 to be exact. When you breakdown the cost to feed the boarded horses, we end up with a net income of about $823.
We currently have 5 rescue horses. 3 are sanctuary animals with deep, unending medical requirements while 2 are currently being screened to prepare for a potential adoption into a companion home (they too are unsound but are lighter on the maintenance level). All 5 are unable to be used for any type of income based activities. Just to feed the rescue horses it costs roughly $964 a month. This does not include any medications, vet care or farrier work.
At the end of the day, every dime we make, every dollar thats donated, is given to our rescues. All of us have 2nd jobs to help cover these costs to make sure we stay up and running, not only for our equines, but for our community as well.
Below are the feed breakdowns for our rescues as well as our lesson horses.

We are so excited to announce that Fortify Ranch’s lesson program has been absorbed by Victoria and her program. We at Fortify Ranch want to continue our 501c3 mission while keeping our books as open and honest as possible. Have no fear though! All of our instructors, horses and the atmosphere will still remain as amazing as it has always been. If you are looking to schedule lessons, text victoria or message us here🖤💕

Updated pics of just a few of the souls that we managed to save. Annie, 35years old going from skin and bones with a heart murmur to looking healthy and holding her weight. Meadow, pulled from the slaughter line now adopted and living her happiest life with her bestie, Inara. Rick, navicular and in pain management getting all bathed up and shiny while getting to a healthy weight. We couldn’t do any of this without your support!

We so incredibly excited to announce that our indoor arena is almost ready for construction! This building is going to change so many lives. As you all know, the majority of our horses have some sort of issue with their feet. Every day we struggle to find safe and comfortable footing for our horses to walk on when we bring them out of their pasture to exercise or even just spend time with. The ground isnt our only issue, the weather challenges us as well. Our spring has been so full of rain that the ground gets slippery. Slick conditions cause more strain on our arthritic and older horses. But not only does the weather and ground effect the horses, it effects our students as well. It breaks our hearts to see and hear the disappointment from our students when we have to cancel our lessons or trail rides due to unsafe conditions.
We are starting this fundraiser to try and raise money to help with the cost of materials for the building. From base footing to replacement screws to equipment rental, it all adds up fast. Any amount can help us. We cant do what we do without you💕
