Little Sprouts Literacy

Reading is an acquired skill. it is not natural, like speaking in our native language.
Some students appear to know their letters but struggle with rapidly naming or providing the correct sound with automaticity. This makes it very challenging to map out the sounds and decode new words.
A strong phonemic and phonological awareness are the foundation to reading success!!!
If you think your child in kindergarten could benefit from strengthening his or her foundation for reading, consider enrolling in the Alphabet Intensive.
Registration opens February 6th π±

πππEarly Intervention πππ What does effective early intervention entail? Why is it so important?
π Neuroimaging shows that effective intervention can alter the pathways in our brain! π§ π§ π§
π The best ages for effective intervention are K-2.
π Intervention should be comprehensive and explicit. At Little Sprouts Literacy we implement Build: A K-1 Early Reading Intervention developed by the staff at the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children.
π Preventative measures lead to success! Why wait and let a child fail when we can catch them before they fall?
Learn. Sprout. Grow! π±

Our brains are βhard-wiredβ for spoken language but not for reading. For most, reading and writing skills must be explicitly and systematically taught. The first step towards literacy is oral language development. Difficulties in speech and language in the preschool years are indicators of challenges students may face in reading and spelling. This is why early detection of a possible language-based learning difference along with intervention is key!
