Acupuncture is the ultimate remedy for stress and anxiety because it downregulates the stress response.

When you are stressed, your body goes into sympathetic nervous system overdrive.

This is your “fight, flight or freeze” response, and it is a basic survival mechanism that affects the way that your body operates.

In this mode of operation, your body increases:
→ vigilance (so you stay more wakeful and watchful)
→ inflammatory chemicals (in case of injury)
→ blood sugar (to fuel your muscles for running or fighting)
→ muscle tension (to be ready for action)

It also reduces blood flow to your digestive and reproductive organs (not important if you are fighting for your life), and alters hormone balance to favor your ability to handle physical threats and reduce energy expended on non-essential physiological tasks.

Your brain doesn’t differentiate between mental stress and the stress of physical danger, so even a stressful day at work can trigger all of these changes in your body.

Acupuncture is an amazing healing modality because it downregulates this sympathetic nervous system activity and upregulates parasympathetic nervous system activity.

In other words, acupuncture promotes the “rest, digest, and heal” nervous system mode of operation. That’s how it has such a beautiful ability to:

→ calm the mind
→ benefit digestion
→ promote hormone balance
→ lower inflammation
→ regulate blood sugar
→ relax muscle tension
→ improve sleep

If you are frazzled, stressed, anxious, and not sleeping, acupuncture is a fantastic choice to get you feeling grounded and like yourself again. We are here to help!

Aren't these herbs gorgeous?

When my friend broke his big toe badly this summer and half of his foot was black and blue from bruising, I knew that this was the formula I wanted to send him.

It's a blend of potent herbs that reduce inflammation, support blood flow, and stimulate tissue healing.

Something special about this formula is that it contains three plant resins, two of which you have heard of: frankincense and myrrh! The other one is known as "dragon's blood" because of its beautiful red hue (check out the 2nd & 3rd photos to see this herb on its own).

The resins lose some potency if cooked, so this formula is best ground up into a powder and taken raw. My herbal pharmacy is primarily composed of tinctures, so it was really fun to get these bulk herbs and grind them up! ❤
