Thanksgiving is the perfect time to capture family members' precious life stories. Write down some questions you plan to ask and when your loved on has a few moments, record their answers as you ask them. Their answers written down are one thing but hearing the responses in their voice and videotaping them as they answer make for precious and irreplaceable treasures. Do it before it's too late and the memories or the person are just a memory.

Kids bored with summer and looking for an activity to do before school starts? Interviewing older relatives and sharing their life stories can help both the seasoned and younger family members. Encourage them to take turn answering each others' questions and have someone recording it for precious family memories.

Vacations with family are a good time to get the stories of your older relatives recorded so younger generations have their stories. If you are having a family reunion or gathering this summer, set aside some quiet time to record their history. You will be glad you did.
