CREC Soundbridge has been serving Connecticut's Deaf and Hard of Hearing community for 60 years and this year, we're walking to celebrate that impact.

Our team, the Soundbridge Super-HEAR-Os, is raising funds for the 2026 Connecticut Walk4Hearing on Sunday, June 7 at Dunkin' Park in Hartford. Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 10:15 a.m.

We're at $508 of our $2,500 goal. Walk with us or support our team: https://www.walk4hearing.org/teams/6177

Did you know that 1 in 5 children has some degree of hearing loss? Many are sitting in classrooms right now without the support they need. CREC Soundbridge's itinerant TOD/HH program exists to change that — bringing expert, individualized services directly to students across our region.

Today is World Hearing Day — and at CREC Soundbridge, we're proud to support children who are deaf or hard of hearing every single day. Our itinerant TOD/HH specialists travel directly to schools and homes to meet kids where they are.

Have a child in your life who might benefit? We'd love to connect.

As we conclude Black History Month, we reflect on the powerful voices and stories that shape our community. At Soundbridge, our commitment to "individualized instruction" means more than just a curriculum—it means honoring the cultural and linguistic identity of every student we serve.

Dr. Allen is a true pioneer who made history as the first Black Deaf woman in the U.S. to earn a doctorate in Education (Ed.D.). She achieved this milestone in 1992 at the University of Rochester.
