It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and we’re proud to recognize our team at Valley Shore Emergency Communications.

Our dispatchers are the first to answer the call when someone dials 911. They coordinate fire and EMS responses across our service towns, working behind the scenes 24/7 to keep people safe and make sure help gets where it’s needed.

Their work is fast-paced, high-stakes, and often unseen—but it’s absolutely essential.

This week, we say thank you to the dispatchers who make it all happen. Your dedication and professionalism do not go unnoticed.

After 20 years of dedicated service, Dispatcher Mark Hennequin has signed off for the final time.

Throughout his career, Mark has served with unwavering commitment, calm under pressure, and a steadfast voice on the other end of the line. From answering emergency calls with compassion to skillfully coordinating fire and EMS responses, his professionalism and dedication have made a lasting impact on Valley Shore and the communities we serve.

Over the years Mark has served with the Naugatuck Police Department, Campion Ambulance, Medstar Ambulance, Ace Ambulance, Nelson Ambulance, KX Communications, Middlesex Hospital, and the Stratford Fire Department.

We thank Dispatcher Hennequin for his years of service, his leadership, and his friendship. On behalf of Valley Shore Emergency Communications and all of our partner agencies, we wish him a happy, healthy, and well-deserved retirement.
