The US National Weather Service Reno Nevada says thunderstorms could bring flash flooding to the area today!
Maintenance + Operations is spending the day clearing storm drains and topping off sandbag locations, should you need them.
Remember, if you come across flooded roadways, turn around and don’t drown! Even if it doesn't look fast flowing, a little bit of water can cause issues.
Report clogged storm drains to Reno Direct at Reno.Gov/RenoDirect
If you need sandbags, we have the sand and bags; you just need to bring a shovel!
Locations:
• City of Reno Corporation Yard, at 1640 East Commercial Row. (enter on Sutro)
• Mira Loma Park (south end of parking lot), at 3000 S. McCarran Blvd.
• Moya Boulevard near the intersection of Red Baron Boulevard.
• Reno Fire Station #5 (Mayberry Fire Station), at 1500 Mayberry Drive.
• Horseman’s Park in the parking lot, at 2800 Pioneer Drive.
• Idlewild Park in the parking lot, at 2055 Idlewild Drive.
Thunderstorms will develop in Mono county today before progressing northward. Slower storm motions and heavy rain will result in flooding being the greatest threat today. Remember, never drive through flooded roadways!
