"Save me, O God,
for the waters have come up to my neck.
I sink in the miry depths,
where there is no foothold.
I have come into the deep waters;
the floods engulf me."
Psalm 69:1-2.
The Rev Scooter Scott would often say, "there are no quick fixes." He was referring to helping people come out of hopelessness. This often requires the person to be willing to change and do the hard work required to move forward, often leaving behind what is comfortable and familiar.
The bottom line is that the person has to want it. No matter how much others want it for them, they must want it and they have to take the steps to bring it about. The good news is that there is hope, there is a fix. That hope is found in Jesus Christ.
Transformation is possible but often slow and difficult. It requires one step at a time and staying focused on the outcome. This week students from Minnesota are in Lexington working alongside us and other nonprofits. They are learning that there are no "quick fixes" but more importantly they are learning how to spead love, kindness and hope. They are part of the Next Step ministry whose mission is to," help students explore their faith, experience God, and extend service to others on Christ-centered mission trips that connect short-term volunteer service with long-term community development." God is preparing them for greater things and we are blessed to have them and be part of His plan.

For years, we've had the privilege of sharing our mission with churches and youth groups nationwide, inspiring them to become catalysts for positive change in their own communities. By demonstrating Christian love in action, we empower them to share God's love and make a lasting impact. Through hands-on participation in our ministries, our hope is they're being equipped to spread hope and transform lives back in their communities. From Lexington SC into all the world.
