SO you already setup and have been using Google's Universal Analytics (UA) for years right? π¬
Ok, well now Google is shutting UA down and switching to their new Google Analytics 4 (GA4), with a hard deadline of July 1st, 2023 π±
HOWEVER, you are gonna want to make the switch to GA4 as soon as possible so that you can build some sort of historic data in GA4 instead of starting from scratch with nothing come 7/1.
SHORT on time? No need to worry about setting up bespoke reports right now, just make sure you at least setup a GA4 account as soon as possible.
GOOGLE says they have already begun migrating UA users over to GA4 since March 2023 but do you really want to leave it up to them to get it right? And you may unknowingly have opted out.
GOOGLE also says they will transfer over settings and configurations from your UA property(s). This you should definitely double check if you have left it up to Google. Especially as GA4 is a little different than UA and not every UA feature has an obvious counterpart, plus there's also new features you may want to take advantage of! π
ALTHOUGH UA will cease to function in terms of new data come 7/1/23, Google says you will be able to view old data for at least six months after the change. (Google has not yet set a hard date for when UA data will no longer be viewable).
DEADLINE: July 1st 2023 UA - GA4.
Come 7/1 don't be left out in the cold π₯Άbrrrr

THE time to have your website optimized for cellphone use was yesterday. BUT the second best time is today!
GO anywhere outside of your own house and you can already witness the prolific use of cellphones; even inside your house if you have children! We all know that, and reliance on them for carrying out everyday tasks is only going to increase π
DONβT get caught with your pants down, optimize your website for mobile use as soon as possible.
NOT sure if your website is mobile friendly in the eyes of the almighty Google? Run your website through their FREE mobile testing tool. Note: Not foolproof.
It's a good place to start. It's quick and easy but if you get no issues coming back or you do and you fix them, it doesn't mean you're all good π©βπ»

Personally, I don't think you can beat a manual check π Use your website thoroughly on a mobile device and you decide whether it is optimized for cellphone use or not. Do this on a regular basis, especially after changes.
Is the formatting the same? Does the text look and align correctly?
How does the menu function? Does it cover useful information when opened?
Are images still appearing? Are they aligned correctly?
It is much more likely your website is going to be viewed and used on a mobile device and if there are any issues with the way it looks and functions then it is going to cast doubt in the consumers mind about the quality of your business or service and they are more likely to go elsewhere. No to mention, it's hella annoying! π
Good luck! π
