When summer heat settles in, many homeowners start to notice their cooling systems working harder, energy costs creeping up, and certain areas of the home feeling warmer than others.

Improving comfort during the warmer months can begin by limiting the amount of additional heat generated indoors. Here are two simple adjustments that can help:

✅ Be mindful of heat-producing appliances - Everyday appliances like ovens, stovetops, and clothes dryers generate noticeable warmth while in use. Running dishwashers and laundry machines during the evenings, when it’s cooler, can help prevent adding extra heat during the hottest part of the day.

✅ Upgrade your lighting - Traditional incandescent bulbs release more heat than many people realize. If you haven’t already switched, LED lighting can help reduce indoor heat and improve energy efficiency.

Small changes in daily habits can make a meaningful difference in maintaining more consistent comfort and easing the workload on your cooling system throughout the summer.

If you have any HVAC needs or experience any issues this summer, don’t hesitate to give Pro Tech Mechanical a call. We are here to help keep you cool!

Over time, minerals from hard water settle at the bottom of your tank, creating sediment buildup that makes your system work harder than it should. That buildup can cause rumbling noises, higher energy bills, inconsistent hot water, and even early tank failure if not addressed.

That’s where we come in. An annual water heater flush from our team can help:

🔸 Improve energy efficiency and help your unit work harder
🔸 Restore strong, consistent hot water for showers, laundry, and guests.
🔸 Lower utility costs by helping your heater run faster and cleaner.
🔸 Extend the lifespan of your unit and reduce breakdown risks.

Summer means more showers, more laundry, and more demand on your system. Let’s clear out the buildup now so you’re not stuck with cold water later. Book your appointment with Pro Tech Mechanical today!

Did you know that silent water leaks can waste thousands of gallons and add hundreds to your bills before you even notice them?

Even the tiniest leak can turn into a major problem. Small leaks can not only waste water, but they can also cause serious damage to walls and floors and even create an environment for mold. Here’s how to check your home for hidden leaks:

💧 Check your water meter. Turn off all water, note the meter reading, wait at least two hours without using water, then check again. If the reading changes, it could indicate that you have a leak.

💧 Test your toilets with food coloring. Add a few drops to the tank and wait 15 to 20 minutes. If color appears in the bowl without flushing, your flapper valve could be leaking.

💧 Inspect taps and showerheads for drips. Even small, slow drips can waste plenty of water each day and indicate worn fixtures that need replacement.

💧 Monitor your water bill for sudden increases. If your bill has gone up with no change in usage, it can be a sign of a leak.

💧 Look for visual warning signs. Water stains; discolored walls or ceilings; mold, musty smells; or damp patches all indicate hidden leaks.

Spotting leaks early saves you from stress, money, and serious damage down the road. If you think you’ve spotted a leak in your home, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Pro Tech Mechanical team!
