EDGE
At the gym today, Our workout was called EDGE. We focused on the edge muscles—the obliques, the lateral stabilizers in the hips. Our coach Andre explained: they are stabilizers. The “edge muscles” keep the body aligned so the larger muscles in the hips, thighs, and glutes can generate power. And they are what allow our greatest strengths to carry weight without strain.
Because I always think everything is about everything else and because metaphor is my thing, I obviously made the EDGE about leadership and professional growth.
So the question becomes: What is the edge that needs to be developed in you?
What stabilizers—habits, mindsets, or relationships—make it possible for you to fully use your strengths?
What helps keep you aligned?
Is there an edge that needs to be supported, nurtured, or challenged so your strongest muscles can safely engage?
Where do you feel an urge to grow or develop?
Today, my coach challenged me beyond my comfort zone—30 pounds more than I would have chosen on my own. That challenge expanded my edge, strengthening not only the stabilizers but also my strongest muscles. It made me more confident. We can ALWAYS do more than we think we can.
I invite you to find your edge. Work your edge. Strengthen the stabilizers so your core is steady, and your true strengths can carry you further than you imagined.
Please tell me about your EDGE. I’d love to hear what is coming up for the leaders in my community.
