Tag Surrender No Longer Required

Legislative Act 2023-479 removes the license plate surrender requirement for vehicles in exempt status (sold, inoperable, otherwise unused). Instead, to claim the exemption, the registrant must submit evidence of the vehicle’s non-use.

If the registrant is responding to an MLI Verification Notice, and if the vehicle was in exempt status, the plate no longer must be surrendered. Instead, the registrant must provide evidence of the vehicle’s non-use to the licensing official prior to re-registering the vehicle. If the evidence is acceptable, then the registration will be revoked, and a new license plate will be issued. If the evidence is not acceptable, reinstatement fees and proof of current insurance will be required to remove any MLI suspension.

Please note that the acceptable non-use evidence can be provided at any time. This includes after the registration has been suspended.

We had our business equipment stolen from our locksmith van. We are actually going to have to close our business due to loosing this equipment it has been months and not heard a peep from anyone so since this group seems to be able to solve cases so quickly I'm going th throw a hail Mary and pray someone has information. My whole livelihood depends on this equipment. It is an Autel MaxiIM 608 pro whith all the attachment and wires and a bunch of key blanks and multiple other diagnostic tools inside a black backpack. It was stolen out of our yellow key van on a job in roanoke AL I am begging for help in locating our missing equipment we work so hard 24/7 and are hardly getting by but loosing this equipment means we have had to turn down many jobs, the ones that can't be done anywhere near here like BMW Mercedes, Audi older Toyotas, volvos, VWs pretty much any job where the keys have to be programmed to the computer being removed from car. This equipment cannot be used it has been locked and reported so if you buy from someone you will be wasting your money as you cannot add a new subscription without a locksmith license and our equipment was registered to our name and license so anybody that tries to get a subscription will have the police at their door it is a felony in Alabama to have this equipment without an a proper AESBL and pass a federal background check. Please help me and my family.

Today we will be taking a personal day in celebration of our youngest son's 9th birthday! We haven't had a full day off to spend with the kids since last summer so today we hang up our keys take off our boots and trade them for swim suits and flip flops and some birthday fun. We will be back to work on Saturday and resume normal 24/7 hours.
