This was written on our office whiteboard today.
And it made me pause.
Because not everything we label as an issue actually needs to be fixed.
Sometimes what we call “trust issues” is really discernment.
A nervous system that learned, through experience, how to notice patterns.
How to read energy.
How to pause before giving access.
That’s not broken.
That’s intelligent.
When the body has been through stress, betrayal, inconsistency, or overwhelm, it doesn’t forget. It adapts. It becomes observant. Protective. Selective.
The goal isn’t to force trust.
The goal is to feel safe enough to choose it when it’s earned.
In my world, healing isn’t about overriding your instincts.
It’s about regulating the nervous system so discernment doesn’t turn into hypervigilance and openness doesn’t require self-betrayal.
You don’t need to trust everyone.
You need to trust your body again.
That’s where real healing starts.
