We are delighted to welcome Claire to the Amos Youth Centre family as a volunteer!

Claire joins us from our friends at Shanta Foundation and brings a strong passion for youth wellbeing and mental health. A graduate of Business and Psychology from Fort Lewis College in Colorado, she is excited to spend time in Zambia learning, serving, and supporting our community.

During her placement, Claire will contribute to several initiatives, including our Mental Health Club, parent mental health sessions, counselling support, and other activities designed to promote the wellbeing of children and youth.

At our flagship Learning & Leadership Center in Zambia, we believe that mental health is an essential part of helping young people thrive, and we are grateful to have Claire sharing her knowledge, energy, and compassion with students and families.

A special thank you to Shanta Foundation for making this connection possible. We look forward to the impact Claire will make during her time with us.

Please join us in giving Claire a warm Zambian welcome!

Today, on the Day of the African Child, we celebrate the potential, resilience, and dreams of children across Africa.

At the African Education Program, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Through our flagship Learning & Leadership Center, the Amos Youth Centre in Kafue, Zambia, thousands of children and youth are accessing quality education, nutritious meals, health services, leadership development opportunities, and inclusive support that helps them build brighter futures.

This year's Day of the African Child is a reminder that investing in children is investing in Africa's future. When young people have access to education, safe spaces, caring mentors, and opportunities to develop their talents, they become the leaders, innovators, and changemakers their communities need.

Today, we honor the courage and determination of African children and renew our commitment to ensuring that every child has the chance to reach their full potential.

Because when youth rise, communities thrive.

At the African Education Program, we believe that education is most powerful when it creates a cycle of leadership, service, and opportunity.

Through our flagship Learning & Leadership Center in Kafue, Zambia, 24 recent secondary school graduates are currently participating in the College Prep Program, where they receive mentorship, academic support, career guidance, and life skills training as they prepare for higher education and the workforce.

Today, we are proud to spotlight John.

John first joined the Amos Youth Centre in 2020 while in Grade 7 after being introduced to the program by his sisters. Over the years, he has grown into a dedicated student leader with aspirations of studying Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Today, John is already giving back to the next generation by volunteering as a tutor, teaching Mathematics, Chemistry, and Civic Education to Grade 10 and 11 students. Through the College Prep Program, he continues to strengthen his skills in budgeting, critical thinking, leadership, and personal development while helping younger learners succeed academically.

John's journey reflects what is possible when young people are supported consistently throughout their educational journey. They don't just transform their own futures—they become mentors, role models, and changemakers who help strengthen their communities.
